An Introduction to the Old Testament, Chapter 1

The name Genesis means "origin" or "beginning". This title originated from the first sentence of the book, "in the beginning.No one has been able to translate the opening sentence, as the Hebrew for it isn't repeated anywhere else in the entire Bible. This book is the first one of the Jewish Pentateuch (the first five books of the Bible).
